I'm a Content Designer based in Wales, where I live with my partner and our cat.

What I do

I'm currently a Content Designer. I've been designing content since October 2021 as a:

  • Learning Designer for a large organisation
  • Content Designer in guidance for a very big website

I studied Creative Writing for my BA and MA, and I'm currently in the process of writing a novel. It's a young adult science fiction book that's gone through more edits and rewrites than I'm willing to admit.

My interests

Professionally, I'm interested in:

  • good content written in plain English
  • user journeys
  • user and learner needs
  • simple, effective design
  • accessibility

Personally, I quite like:

  • reading and writing (not necessarily in plain English)
  • computers and technology
  • video games (especially PC gaming)
  • the Oxford comma and contractions (style guides be damned)
  • my cat (pics below)

I don't use most social media because it's a cesspit. However, I'm considering joining Bluesky and/or Mastodon - I'll add links if I go ahead with this.

My peers have advised me to use LinkedIn, but frankly it's insane there. I want nothing to do with it. That may have to change if I ever go freelance, but if I do join I'll be holding my nose.
